When creating my TV Show Theme Song, I wanted to give the piece and tropical, relaxing, and chill mood. I needed to add this song to a TV Show that I also created, so I needed it to perfectly fit the vibe. I added a dreamy beat, a soft guitar, and a quiet bass. Then, I added a different bass that was more harmonic to give the song a more relaxing mood. Next, I added the organ as the final touch to give the summer vibe. During this project, I learned how to use beat patterns with organs on Soundtrap. I found it very easy and it is a lot like just making normal beats.
When creating my D Dorian beat, the first thing I did was choose a custom loop for the library to set how I wanted my song to flow. Next I created my own beat and bass and added it to the loop. Then I added guitar chords and a trumpet to give the song some uniqueness. Lastly, I played with the volumes of each loop until it sounded perfect. I also learned a lot while making this project. I learned how to make guitar chords and trumpet loops on Soundtrap. I found out that sometimes the less complex loops, happen to be the loops that sound best. I also learned a lot about Dorian beats and how they are commonly found in genres such as rock and metal music. Finally, I learned about the D Minor key is music and how it differs in sound from others. Making this beat was a lot of fun and it gave me many new ideas and concepts for future songs.
Concerto for Drum Machines
With this song, the first thing I did was create three separate beats and put them in ABACA format. I made the beats somewhat similar to improve the flow of the song and to have it sound more smooth while listening. Next, I created three bass sounds to match each of the three beats in the song. After that I added a synth to the entirety of the song and also made it into an intro and an ending of the piece. Just like that I was finished with tracking. My next step was to adjust the volumes and make some of the audios fade in or out. I have my bass fade in at the beginning and fade out at the end. Also, I put a very slight fade at the start of every beat. Then I adjusted the volume to make it start quieter and after a half of a measure the volume increases. I listened to my work and realized that it sounded perfect and I was finally done with this song. During this process, I learned how to create a drum beat and a bass using patterns and a piano roll, and I learned that a simple change in volume can enhance each feature of the song and make it sound much better.
It's Over (ABABA Song)
'It's Over' is my ABABA song and it was quite easy to make. This is the first project we've made in Music Tech, so I didn't know how to make any of the sounds. All of my tracks were already made in Soundtrap, but I would to put it all together. I decided that I wanted to give the song a dark and lucid mood. My first step was finding one solid beat that fit the mood to put over the whole song. Then, I found a few tracks to make into my chorus. I wanted to make sure the tracks sounded similar so they would give off the same energy in the song, Next, I took a few more tracks that sounded similar and created my verses. Afterwards I added an intro to the beginning and a post-chorus to the end of the song, fading it out. Then I faded my verses at their start so there would be a fluent transition between the chorus and the verse. Lastly, I adjusted my volume to perfection making each track stand out in its own way. While making this song, I learned basically everything about Soundtrap. I learned how to add tracks to a piece, fade sounds in and out, and how to increase or decrease the volume of each track.
